The draft Building Safety Bill was published on 20th July 2020 when it begun a process of ‘pre-legislative scrutiny’ before the Bill is introduced to Parliament. The draft Bill will make sure that those responsible for the safety of residents are accountable for any mistakes and must put them right. It will fully establish the Regulator in the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and give it significant powers across the UK to improve safety and performance across the built environment, especially in higher-risk buildings.
